Capacity building

Government capacity building

As the off-grid lighting and energy sector is relatively new and still developing in many countries, there is often a lack of expertise in public sector energy access agencies regarding off-grid versus on-grid solar solutions, which can impact project objectives. Some countries, for example, lack the capacity within their government bodies to create and implement policies and regulations identified as favoring off-grid electrification, such as standards offices.

As part of our commitment, we are working with our government partners to increase this capacity. Our experience shows that government capacity building can maximize results.

Providing key sales support

Similarly, as the off-grid lighting and energy sector has attracted new small businesses and recruited atypical sales forces such as women’s groups to help increase access to these transformative products, helping to build capacity along the value chain is a key element. of our work.

Our field experts work with governments to support technical assistance facilities that provide matchmaking with manufacturers as well as business model support. We advise governments to work with companies to refine their business models, sales and marketing strategies and product distribution networks.
